About the village of Kalina:
The village of Kalina is located in Northeastern Bulgaria, in the Dobrich region, near the border with Romania and only about 15 km from the town of General Toshevo. The area is known for its fertile land and a peaceful, rural atmosphere.
The village was built on a former farmstead and is known by its old name Emirler. The earliest written document about the village dates back to 1573, when it was noted in a Turkish tax register. South of the village there are traces of a Byzantine border camp, probably part of the chain of fortifications of Emperor Justinian.
In 1965, a community center "Kalina - 1965" was established in the village, which to this day develops active cultural activities, including cultural exchange between local residents and newly arrived English citizens.
