"Sarafovo" is a resort district in the city of Burgas, which is located on the Burgas Bay, near the sea resorts of Pomorie, Nessebar and Sunny Beach.
Infrastructure
The Sarafovo neighborhood, also called the Beverly Hills in Burgas, originated in the period 1912-1922 as the Pomorie district and is named after Eng. Sarafov, who designed the excellent infrastructure of the neighborhood.
The wide straight streets, garden parks and school, as well as access to a very well-built and maintained road infrastructure make it one of the most luxurious neighborhoods in Burgas.
The residential buildings in it are for both seasonal and year-round living. About 3,000 people live in it, including many foreigners. The neighborhood is constantly expanding in the direction of the Military Station and Kyusheto (future district of Burgas).
Recreation and Tourism
The trade network in the neighborhood is very well developed. Shops for groceries, household goods, clothing, as well as the 35 restaurants and cafes attract Bulgarian and foreign tourists.
The wide beach, the absence of industrial sites, the fine sand and the long summer make "Sarafovo" a favorable place for rest even until October, when the water is still warm and suitable for bathing.
Only 3 km from Sarafovo is located the Atanasovsko Lake Nature Reserve, where over 230 species of higher plants, included in the Red Book of Bulgaria and over 316 species of birds live. The reserve is also called the bird paradise and is of great interest to researchers, bird lovers and photographers. In the vicinity of Atanasovsko Lake there are many swamps and canals.
Transport
The residential complex has regular transport both on weekdays and on weekends. Bus line number 15 connects "Sarafovo" with the other districts of Burgas, departing from the bus station "South". In half an hour tourists can catch buses to Primorsko, the ancient town of Nessebar, the luxury resort. Sunny Beach, Kiten and the sea capital Varna.
Temples
The newly built Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is open daily for visits.
