Zhilentsi is a village in western Bulgaria, part of Kyustendil Municipality, Kyustendil District.

It is 3 km west of Kyustendil, 90 km southwest of Sofia and 15 km from Gueshevo border checkpoint.

The population is about 1200 people.

The village consists of the neighborhoods Vezenkova, Rekalska, Grancharska, Tsentar, Serbinska, Chiflika, Dolna Brestnitsa, Dolna and Mazneva.

The relief is mountainous and hilly with an altitude of 638 m.
The climate is transitional-continental, which is typical of mild winters - with average temperatures around 2ºÐ¡ and pleasant and cool summers - with an average temperature around 23ºÐ¡.

The infrastructure is well developed. The village is electrified, supplied with water and partially canalized. It has a network for cable TV, coverage of all telephone operators, landlines and internet.

Intercity transport connects it with the main regional town of Kyustendil.
The village is connected by an asphalt road with the main road E871 with the town of Kyustendil, Sofia and the border checkpoint for Macedonia.

There is a kindergarten, a community center and a church in the village.
A general practitioner serves the villagers.

Tourist and cultural landmarks

In 1893 the church of St. Nicholas was built in the village, with a nice stone construction.
On the territory of the village there are two houses-museums, those of Dimitar Kalyashki and Sasho Klechkov.
The proximity to Rila Mountain, which is the highest mountain in the Balkans, combined with the magnificent nature and the richness of plant and animal species is a great prospect for mountain and eco tourism.
The convenient connection of the village with the town of Kyustendil allows for visits to the mineral springs and balneo-sanatoriums located in the town, as well as to archeological excavations from Roman times.
Hisarlaka Hill rises 2 km southeast of Kyustendil. The fortress was built in the late IV - early V century.
