About the village:

Obrochishte is a village in northeastern Bulgaria, part of Balchik municipality, Dobrich region. It is 33 km away from the town of Dobrich, 31 km from the city of Varna, 5 km from the town of Dobrich. Albena and 13 km from the resort. Golden Sands.

General information:

The village is situated at the bottom of a former deep bay, which today forms the picturesque valley of the Batova River. Its coastline was outlined by the rock ridge, which today is the village of Lyahovo. The population is over 2500 people. The altitude is 135 m. The relief is hilly and the climate is temperate continental, strongly influenced by the proximity of the Black Sea - the winter is soft and the summer cool.
The old name of Obrochishte (until 1942) is Tekke, which in translation from Turkish means a Mohammedan "prayer home with rooms for dervishes (wandering Muslim monks)". The word "Orthodox Church" means a religious sanctuary or a place where religious vows and rites are held.

Infrastructure:

In the village there is a school where children from neighboring villages and towns, community center, kindergarten, post office, town hall, Orthodox church built in 1880, stadium, many shops, doctors' and dental offices, pharmacy. Near the village there is a mine where manganese is extracted. Nearby there is a sheltered, guarded dam, where sport fishing competitions are organized.
The main livelihood of the local people is agriculture and livestock breeding. The village develops cultural and rural tourism. Most of the people in the village work in the nearby Black Sea resorts.
