As in the past, as today, agriculture is the main livelihood for the local people. The fertile land is cultivated by two cooperatives and several other tenants. Dozens of mechanics and repair workers work in them. Many residents of Chernevo raise animals on their personal farms. A woodworking workshop also operates in the village.

Cultural and natural attractions
Part of a tourist route that passes by the phenomenon Pobiti kamani passes by the village. The route goes through an easily passable forest, where tourists could enjoy the magic of the Bulgarian nature and wonderful places for recreation. The easily accessible forest would not be difficult even for the laziest tourist, who, in addition to walking, can use the time to pick herbs or berries. In May, the hills of Chernevo are covered in greenery, and the forest meadows in wild peonies.
The church was built in 1836, and the site for the church was a donation from Paraskev Atanasov Karachevov. A cell school was opened next to the church, where the priest taught in Greek. In 1986, the school's 150th anniversary was solemnly celebrated, and in 2006, the church's 170th anniversary was celebrated. The church and the school are the oldest in Varna.
